THE 10 RULES FOR HIKERS
Please note that the practicability of the itineraries in a mountain environment is strictly linked to the contingent conditions and is therefore influenced by natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this page may have changed. Before leaving for a tour, make sure the path you will approach is still accessible by contacting the owner of the mountain hut, the alpine guides or the visitor centres of the nature parks, the info offices of the local tourist board.
To reach the Geotrail Dos Capèl trail, take the cable car to Gardonè and then the chairlift to Passo Feudo (2,200 m).
From Passo Feudo, descend slightly to the right, leaving the refuge behind. The path is unpaved, with an immense panorama of the peaks of the Dolomites and the Lagorai chain. The direction is signposted by arrows and installations: there are 19 of them, and each one helps you to read with curiosity the rock stratifications and the adaptation of plants to different types of soil. It is like walking back in time: between rocks that make the sea of 250 million years ago resonate and black layers of volcanic rocks.
At the Info Point in Gardonè you can ask for ‘Geotrail Dos Capèl. Easy to Read", a guide-book in EtR (Easy to Read) language, and a special geological kit (€ 6.00) containing a magnifying glass, a pair of goggles, gloves and bags to pick up a few bits of rock.
The walk is free. But if you want to understand the natural spectacle you are walking through and have fun with the children, the EtR (Easy to Read) guide-book is a useful tool: with clear, readable, illustrated information to understand, memorise and be able to recount your discoveries!
Back in the valley, you can deepen your curiosity about fossils with the experts of the Geological Museum of the Dolomites in Predazzo.
Dos Capèl Geotrail - Dolomites, what a discovery! is a project curated by the Muse-Trento Science Museum, the Geological Museum of the Dolomites in Predazzo and the Fondazione Museo Civico di Rovereto in collaboration with Irifor del Trentino, Albinova and Anffass Trentino.
