Route also suitable for families with children but not with strollers. The final stretch of the route presents steep steps to descend near the lake.
THE 10 RULES FOR HIKERS
As you can imagine, the passability of routes in a mountainous environment is strictly linked to current conditions and depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this sheet may have changed. Before leaving, check the status of the route by contacting the manager of the refuges on your route, alpine guides, visitor centers of natural parks and tourist offices.
Near the provincial road, an information panel welcomes us to the Lona-Lases provincial nature reserve. After descending to the beach, we start the route clockwise, then head east guided by a beautiful walk. Now we climb towards the village (yellow arrows) arriving at a crossroads with a fountain, we continue northeast following the signs for "palù redont". Arriving at the second fork (with the presence of a sheet metal tool shed) we go straight (and not right towards val fredda) and at the next fork we take left.
Arriving at "Palù Redont", an interesting amphitheater-shaped biotope of 130-150 meters in diameter, we take an uphill path with signs for "Doss Costei" (always follow the yellow arrows painted on wooden trunks) and, just before reaching the provincial road, we turn right arriving at a field cultivated with small fruits. We continue for a while and, arriving at a forest road, we turn left and then take another one on the right. Follow the latter ignoring the two roads that we will meet going up and continuing to the right; the road makes hairpin bends and reaches a large information panel dedicated to the Lona-Lases biotope. From there we follow the signs for "Val fredda", taking a forest road. Walking through val fredda it is easy to understand the origin of the name given to it and the charm that this place arouses on hot summer afternoons.
After passing a porphyry quarry, we follow the signs for "sentiero circumlacuale" and continue enjoying the view of the lake. This is the most panoramic part of the proposed route but also the most technical: in fact, the descent develops along a path with steps that are sometimes steep. Pay attention! The route continues passing a pink hut and continuing among the reeds on the walkway that cuts the biotope south of the lake in the company of some typical lacustrine birds. For short stretches, in the final part, the path is interrupted and runs alongside the provincial road. Arriving at the well-kept beach, you soon return to the parking lot.
