In the village of Varena, set among the houses and close to the forest, is another small village inhabited by 100 silent and hard-working characters.
Along the 700-metre-long path, the various activities that engage the inhabitants of this charming village flourish: there are those who work with clay, those engaged in shepherding, the blacksmith, the carpenter, the baker and a dairy, and many more, and of course the stable where Jesus was born cannot be missed.
All this is the Crib ‘La via di Betlemme’, created in 1989 from the idea of a few volunteers to create something unique and magical for Holy Christmas. Every character, animal, decoration and little house is the result of handicraft work. From papier-mâché, to wood, to recycled textiles: everything exalts authenticity, passion and craftsmanship.
