Moderately difficult route mainly on dirt roads, that crosses the territories of three municipalities: Giovo, Faedo and Cembra. Nearby at the Restaurant Malga Sauch refreshment possibilities.

After the first stretch of asphalt road to Fontanelle di Faedo, the itinerary winds its way through the labyrinthine network of forest roads and paths that cover the dense forests of the Cembra Valley, offering numerous exciting technical descents. Not to be missed is a stop at the Roccolo del Sauch: an aroboree sculpture once used for bird hunting and now converted into an ornithological observatory.

Starting point
Masen di Giovo
Directions

From the hamlet of Masen, similarly to route no. 1, you reach the Serre cross and continue in the direction of Faedo on an asphalt road until you reach the locality of Fontanelle di Faedo - a lovely park and large car park - from where the long stretch through the woods begins. The dirt road towards the Sauch offers slopes that are never excessive except for a short, very steep cobbled section that gradually becomes gentler near the Croccola pass. From the pass, descend to the Sauch hut, passing near the Roccolo visible on the left, and then retrace the route back to the pass. From here, continue along the forest road, steep in places and paved with porphyry, following the signs for the Maderlina hut until you reach the Lagabrùn biotope; you will soon reach the tarmac road from Cembra up to Lake Santo. Descend along the road until you come to a path (no. 414) on the right, which you follow in the direction of Palù Sovina. From here, leaving path no. 414, which bends to the right, continue along path no. 417, which leads towards the Maderlina hut, which is not reached, however, because at a fork in the road, turn sharply to the right and follow the signs for Masen. The descent towards Masen, at times very technical and rewarding, ends at the signpost indicating "Sentiero naturalistico Mondagiò" (Mondagiò nature trail), which leads back to the Serre cross with a few short ascents. From the cross, putting aside the idea of descending along the short asphalted road, we take a little path that without any possibility of error takes us back to Masen just before the Fior di Bosco hotel.

public transportation
Masen can be reached by scheduled Trentino Trasporti buses B102 (to Verla di Giovo) and B105 (from Verla to Ville di Giovo) and then about a half-hour walk.
