A relaxing walk through the narrow streets of the historic centre to the wide open meadows around the town
Beghel (meaning owl) is the nickname of the people of Sevignano, a proud Segonzano hamlet. It is said that in the past, in exchange for a few coins, the young people of Sevignano used to help out travellers caught out at dusk, accompanying them, like nocturnal birds of prey, along the Ceramonte footpaths.
Every summer in Sevignano a Simposio del Beghel is held, three days of art, music, food and wine.
This route takes you through town streets decorated with works of art made during the Simposio and the area around Sevignano with its countryside, meadows and woods.
Even if this trail is not technically difficult and has no dangerous stretches, we always and in any case suggest to follow the general rules on safety for mountain hikes.
After leaving your car in the state road car parks, climb up to the town on a cobbled alleyway and continue through its streets in search of its works of art as far as the southern part of the town on the edge of the woods.
You then come to an open larch forest, reclaimed by a group of volunteers and then the Reserve network, and climb up to the Fontane area with its meadows and huts. A short detour on a forest road takes you to Fo Gross, Sevignano’s centuries’ old beech tree.
The route then continues gently downhill on a forest road to Prada, a flat area of wide open meadows and small vegetable gardens with attractive views over the valley.
The return route is a straightforward even road, a perfect opportunity to enjoy the rural environment to the full.
