This 4-day loop trek is a very versatile proposal as it allows you to choose between several variants of different difficulty. This is why it can be tackled by both those approaching the multi-day trek for the first time and those who are already experienced.

The track on the map presents the most demanding route. The MEDIUM and EASY variants are described in each stage in the TURN-BY-TURN DIRECTIONS section.

The route offers spectacular views of the Lagorai chain and the Pale di San Martino. Along the entire route there are refuges and refreshment points where it is possible to take a break, eat, and spend the night. The route leads to the discovery of some little-known routes, among Alpine lakes and trenches from the Great War, a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the nature and history of the Fiemme Valley. After the first two days dedicated to the exploration of Alpe Lusia, amidst paths characterised by a great variety of rocks and porphyry outcrops, and with the Dolomites as a backdrop, on the third and fourth days you will literally immerse yourself in the beauty of the Pale di San Martino, with their soaring spires and picture postcard landscapes.

Almost the entire route runs through the territory of the Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino Nature Park, a protected area since 1967.

Directions

LONG ROUTE: from Rifugio Capanna Cervino, walk downhill along the dirt road to Passo Rolle or along the path until you reach a hollow where the Castellazzo chairlift starts. Take the road to the right towards Malga Juribello, crossing the pastureland on the slopes of Monte Castellazzo. When you reach the malga, turn right and follow the signs for Pian dei Casoni, first crossing the pasture and then entering the woods, with a passageway near a stream. At another fork, turn left and follow the path (also used by mountain bikes) that leads towards Paneveggio. On reaching the asphalt road, follow it to the left for 100 metres and then take the forest road signposted ‘Paneveggio’ and ‘Sentiero Marciò’. Once you reach the Paneveggio Nature Park Visitor Centre (which is definitely worth a visit), follow the tarmac road to the right as far as the bus stop clearing. From here, take the forest road to the left signposted Forte Dossaccio and, at Chetà, follow the signs for Castelir, passing through pastures dotted with pretty wooden huts. (14.6 km - 175 metres of ascent - 715 metres of descent)

MEDIUM ROUTE: from Rifugio Capanna Cervino, walk downhill along the dirt road to Passo Rolle or along the path until you reach a hollow where the Castellazzo chairlift starts. When you reach the malga, turn right and follow the signs for Pian dei Casoni, first crossing the pastureland and then entering the wood, with a crossing near a stream. At another fork, turn right onto the path leading to Pian dei Casoni, from where the shuttle bus to Paneveggio departs. Check the shuttle bus timetable here (4.6 km - 406 metres downhill). From Paneveggio, buses take you back to the Bellamonte Castelir ski lifts or to Predazzo.

SHORT ROUTE: from Rifugio Capanna Cervino, walk downhill along the dirt road to Passo Rolle or along the path until you reach the asphalt road. At the bend, there is a bus stop that takes you back to the Bellamonte Castelir ski lifts or to Predazzo. (1 km scarce - 122 metres downhill)
