Relaxing walk in the Cavalese park among secular lime trees. Some benches invite you to enjoy panoramic views over the valley.

The Parco della Pieve is a historical park that was originally a large lawn. It experienced a first diffusion of organized greenery from the late nineteenth century until it expanded in the 1920s until it reached the Old Railway track.

The exploration of the old railway line is the central point of this walk. Going through the old tunnel is a unique experience, knowing that you are walking on the track of a railway that until 1963 connected Ora in the province of Bolzano with Predazzo.

Starting point
Piazza Verdi
Directions

Leave Piazza Verdi along Viale Mendini, turn right onto Via della Pieve, and then right again onto Via Bresadola.

The road is at first surfaced and then unsurfaced as it traces the route of the old Val di Fiemme rail line. Enter the rail tunnel (under the Parco della Pieve) and then continue through the meadows up to the Hotel Panorama.

Climb Via Cavazal and, at the ice stadium, turn left, go for a short distance down the sidewalk to take to the left the staircase, that leads to the viewpoint of the park.

Then follow the stone paved path arriving at the tennis courts. Turn left behind the tennis bar and continue along the scenic walkway that leads to the Archpriest’s Church of St. Maria Assunta and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sorrows.

From here take the avenue lined with ancient lime trees, leading back to the starting point.
