Trekking through the silent woods and precious reserves of the Alta Val di Cembra and Monte Corno Park. An immersion in an environment still intact and waiting to be discovered.

The proposed path leads you to the discovery of something special, something unusual. You will not encounter rock towers or inviolate peaks, but something smaller and perhaps less conspicuous, but just as precious. You will be surrounded by the forests that separate the Adige Valley from the Cembra Valley; an area that straddled two worlds even in Roman times. You will encounter witnesses of the past and present of this mountain, first and foremost the peat bogs, ancient lakes of glacial origin where the peat has progressively reduced the water surface, creating an environment incredibly favourable to biodiversity. In addition, there are mills and boundary stones that narrate forgotten events. At the end of the day, you will find the warmth of the refuge: a plate of soup and a glass of wine will help you to cheerfully remember what happened during the day and to dream about the next day's stage.

Itinerary designed and implemented by Sviluppo Turistico Grumes in collaboration with the Network of Reserves Valle di Cembra - Avisio, the Natural Park of Monte Corno, the subjects of tourism promotion and numerous private operators.

Suggestions

The peat bogs that we meet along the way date back to about 12,000 years ago, when the basins dug during the last glaciation turned into ponds that began to swamp and tarnish to create these environments. Peat bogs are very important and protected environments both for their rarity at the Alpine level and for their richness in biodiversity.

Directions

STAGE 2 (From Rifugio Potzmauer to Rifugio Malga Monte Corno)

From the hut, climb up to the Potzmauer Pass and follow the signs for Lac del Vedes (1,496 m). The path skirts the reserve and then reaches, on a dirt road, the huts and the crossroads of Valdonega. Follow the cemented road uphill towards Doss da l'Ors. At the crossroads, turn left and in two minutes you will reach a viewpoint with a hut. Continuing on the same road through a fir forest, you reach another fork where you continue to the right. After a short stretch, the path on the right leads back to the main road and in a few minutes you reach a hollow (Monte dell'Orso). Follow the signpost for Cauria until, on wooden signs, there are signs for Lago Bianco, which can be reached in an hour. From Valdonega, it is also possible to deviate towards Paluda La Lot by following the ‘Boundary Path’ towards Cauria. Continuing on towards Cauria, you will rejoin the original route. At Lago Bianco, take the forest road to the left and walk alongside the marsh. Then continue slightly uphill, following the signpost for Lago Nero. Having reached the lake, continue towards the Malga Monte Corno hut, which is reached in about half an hour.
