The Cantina Micheli winery is located in Lona, a small village on the left bank of the River Aviso.
It was in 2007 when Francesco drew up a plan to make his dream real. With his father’s help, he decided to buy some abandoned plots of land adjacent to a parcel he already owned, restored the dry-stone walls and planted Chardonnay.
With the first harvest, in 2017, the adventure started. However, severe weather conditions right before the harvest (hail, cold temperatures and strong winds) ravaged the vineyards, slashing the quantity of grapes to only 1223 kg. To commemorate this struggling beginning, Francesco decided to name his first sparkling wine “1223kg”.
