Church of S. Vigilio and convent of the Franciscan Friars

Built at the end of the 17th century, the Franciscan complex contains valuable works of art. Do not miss the convent's art gallery dedicated to Fiemme painters.

The paintings of the Fiemme school exhibited in the art gallery are probably the flagship of this convent located in Cavalese and built in 1689. The adjacent church, consecrated in the same year to San Vigilio, also enriches the artistic heritage. As you enter the building, you can admire the three 17th-century wooden altars as well as the numerous paintings depicting Franciscan saints. In the cloister there are some large wall paintings and 35 seventeenth-century copper engravings depicting the stories of martyrs. The convent was completely restored in 1994 with the restoration of the roof, the interior, the cloister and the Bonelli room.
