On July 19, 1985, the collapse of the Prestavèl mine dumps caused a mudslide that buried the Val di Stava, causing death and destruction. The tragedy took the life of people coming from 64 municipalities in 23 different provinces and regions of Italy
The Stava 1985 Onlus Foundation was established on the initiative of the victims' families. The Foundation offers a series of information tools to explain the genesis, causes and responsibilities for the catastrophe.
