A walk through the heart of the Cembra valley in the midst of intrepid vineyards, small hamlets and the Avisio stream
From Cembra’s sports fields the route begins on a country road which descends in the midst of steep terraced vineyards to the banks of the Avisio stream. It then crosses a bridge over the river in front of Pozzolago power station, a fine example of 1920s industrial architecture which is still working today.
From the ravine carved out by the stream you then climb up the country road following the path E463 to the village of Piazzole, a pretty small village set deep in the countryside.
From Piazzole the route climbs on path E463 to the provincial road which it briefly crosses uphill, before turning left and continuing to Sevignano. Cross the village, admiring the lovely works of art dedicated to the "beghel" (the owl) and reach the Prada area. Then continue in the woods towards Val Pomara and follow the signs for the famous Pyramids of Segonzano. Reach the Rio Regnana, cross it and, after crossing the paved road, continue along the road in the woods that descends to the Chiosco delle Piramidi. Then go down again towards the pretty village of Piazzo, and down again up to the Ponte dell’Amicizia. Once crossed it turn left and flank the Avisio stream for around 1 km before climbing back up to Cembra on country roads through the vineyards.
Even if this trail is not technically difficult and has no dangerous stretches, we always and in any case suggest to follow the general rules on safety for mountain hikes.
