The church was first built in 1193, and underwent several extensions and rebuilds over the centuries until the second half of the 1500s.

The church's bell tower is sixteenth-century with a Roman-Gothic layout. Probably due to a collapse due to the effect of lightning, the cusp was truncated and replaced in 1761 by the current baroque dome. The presbytery is harmonious and bright; the vault has delicate sixteenth-century decorations and important fifteenth-century frescoes appear on the north wall.
The main altar is Baroque  and has an altarpiece painted by the Varena artist Don Antonio Longo in 1800, depicting Jesus Christ and St. Thomas, patron saint of the Church.
Located on the lower edge of the town, it is in a point of the valley from which you can admire the wide panorama that embraces the entire Lagorai chain
